PHED 548 - Teaching Beginning Tennis Techniques

Prerequisite: Matriculation in the Professional Tennis Management Graduate Certificate program or the MS in Physical Education, Professional Tennis Management and Coaching concentration or consent of DGCE chairperson

This course is a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental teaching skills necessary to provide basic tennis instruction to children and adults across a range of experience levels and ability status. Students will develop an understanding of the basic biomechanics, technical and tactical progressions, instructional cues used for individual feedback, and lesson development. Specific emphasis is placed on basic curriculum development, age-appropriate skill instruction, and equipment and court modification for inclusion and differentiated learning. Offered summer session.
