PHIL 213 - Philosophies of China and Japan(3 credits) Prerequisite: One 100-level, three-credit course in philosophy or CRIT 111 This course examines some of the central ideas and issues found in past and contemporary Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism and Shintoism, especially as they illuminate Asian/Western misunderstandings and relationships. Emphasis will be placed on concepts of moral value, human nature, salvation, harmony and pluralism. Offered alternate years. (CGCL; CHUM; CWRT)
