SOCI 230 - Art and American Society(3 credits) Prerequisite: SOCI 102 or consent of instructor This course will provide a sociological perspective on the arts in America. It will explore the social interactions, actors, and institutions of artistic production and consumption; the societal context of traditional and nontraditional art forms; and the intersection of race, class, and gender within the art world.
