ACFI 585 - Finance for Decision Making(3 credits) Prerequisite: Matriculation in the MBA program and consent of graduate coordinator This course is the study of the techniques used by organizations to make financial management decisions – primarily capital budgeting, capital structure and working capital decisions. It is intended to provide a market-oriented framework for analyzing the major types of investment and financing decisions made by financial managers. Topics will include cash flow analysis, financial statement analysis, financial markets, short-term and long-term financial planning, capital budgeting decisions, risk analysis, cost-of-capital concepts, leverage and capital structure decisions, dividend policy and international financial management. Utilizing case studies and comprehensive problem sets, the course will focus on the application of concepts with the use of analytical problem-solving techniques and electronic spreadsheets as decision-making tools. Offered spring semester.
