ENGL 373 - The Bridge Journal

(3 credits)
Prerequisite: Consent of instructor
The Bridge is an award-winning electronic and print-based journal managed entirely by students, dedicated to showcasing the artistic talents of the Bridgewater State University student body. This course introduces students to the processes and skills required for producing an art and literary magazine. The Bridge is a collaborative project that relies on the full participation of all editors during the entire production cycle of the journal – students who enroll in the fall are expected to make a two-semester commitment to the journal, earning a total of six credits (three credit hours per semester). Students will participate in regular weekly meetings, and additional meetings as scheduled. All students will solicit submissions and promote the journal through a consistent social media presence; critique, edit, and curate submitted works of art and literature; design the journal using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, or comparable software; and plan, promote and host the journal’s unveiling event in the spring semester. Repeatable: may earn a maximum of six credits. Offered fall and spring semesters.
