POLI 573 - International Non-Governmental Organizations(3 credits) This course will examine the strategies, activities and effectiveness of NGOs working in the field of international development. It will look at how these NGOs interact with state governments and international institutions, compare operations of NGOs in the U.S. with those elsewhere, analyze their organizational structures and look at the legal and regulatory environments in which they operate. The course will integrate case studies throughout to highlight how the various theories match with the empirical reality. Offered alternate years.
