SOCI 227 - Deviance and Social Control(3 credits) Cross Listed with CRJU 227 Prerequisite: SOCI 102 or CRJU 201 or consent of instructor This course examines deviant acts with an eye toward understanding social order and change. Topics covered include the types and causes of deviance, the social conditions and elements of deviant acts, and the effects of deviance and mechanisms for prevention, punishing and rehabilitating deviant individuals and groups.
