PHYS 401 - Modern Physics(4 credits)
Prerequisite: PHYS 244 with a minimum grade of “C-“
Corequisite: PHYS 401L
This course covers theory of relativity, atomic structure, quantum theory, nuclear physics and elementary particles. Students perform modern physics experiments, emphasizing modern instrumentation and professional lab report writing in conjunction with theory presented in lecture. Three hours of lecture and three hours of laboratory weekly. Offered fall semester. May be taken for graduate-level credit.
