MATH 141 - Elements of Calculus I(3 credits) Prerequisite: MATH 140/140E with a “C-” or higher or MATH 150 with a “C-” or higher or a mathematics placement test This course introduces the student to the main concepts, methods, and techniques of differential calculus. Emphasis is on how these arise from problems in several areas, rather than from a rigorous development of the theory. A principal objective of this course is to illustrate how mathematics is used to model physical reality and how such a mathematical model facilitates the solution of problems. This course does not satisfy mathematics major requirement. (CMAR)
