PHED 277 - Theory and Practice of Yoga Traditions(2 credits) Through a concentrated study of yoga asanas (postures), mantras (sacred chants), dyana (meditation techniques), pranayama (breath control) and philosophy, students will be questioning, analyzing and applying feedback on various yoga modules. This course offers a largely physical practice along with lecture content that details the history and theory behind three yogic traditions (Hatha, Ashtanga and Kundalini) and the Eight-Limbed Path of Yoga study. Offered fall and spring semesters.
