ANTH 511 - Public Archaeology(3 credits) Prerequisite: ANTH 508 This course is an introduction to public archaeology, and its history of development. Emphasis will be placed on the basic knowledge and training necessary for careers in contract archaeology and cultural resource management: to introduce students to the history of the development of public archaeology; to study the federal, state and local legislation protecting archaeological resources; to provide administrative training for doing contract archaeology – contract and research proposal development, report writing, Environmental Impact Statement interpretation and to provide a basic background for cultural resource management careers. Offered spring semester.
