MGMT 321 - Transportation Management(3 credits) Prerequisite: MGMT 130; and ECON 101 or ECON 102 This course explores the vital role of transportation in the global economy and supply networks and focuses on the fundamentals of freight transportation from both shipper and carrier perspectives. Motor carrier, rail, water and air modes of transportation are reviewed including their history, competitive and regulatory environments, cost structure and unique challenges. The costing and pricing of transportation services are covered in detail. Later in the course, the topics of transportation risk management, global transportation and third-party logistics are discussed. Offered alternate years.
