EDMC 507 - The Sociology of Urban Education(3 credits) This course explores the dynamics of inequality in the urban environments and how politics, economy and culture shape students’ experience of education. Focusing on the intersection of home, school and community is fundamental to understanding the overall experience of education in urban settings. Students will learn the fundamentals of a sociological approach to urban education while also gaining an exciting look at current work in the field. Offered annually.
