GEOL 180 - Forensic Geology(3 credits) This course will examine how the scientific method is applied to a diverse set of geologic conditions that assist law enforcement and are used in solving criminal investigations. This geologic evidence is in general used to place a person or object at the scene of a crime or show travel path. Case studies will be used to highlight how geology, and understanding geologic processes, can be used to help provide valuable information in solving various crimes or litigation problems. Classroom assignments and group work in the hands-on investigative approach to solving a “crime” are constructed to provide a more effective introductory geology experience.
