POLI 304 - Citizenship and Community Leadership(3 credits) This course explores three fundamental questions: 1) What do we mean by “citizenship” and why do we care about “good” citizenship?; 2) What is the nature of leadership and how do we develop strong, effective leaders?; and 3) How might we effectively engage citizens and public leaders together in democratic governance to produce solutions to social, economic, and political problems? A service-learning course requirement will guide the student toward discovery of the role of citizenship in strengthening and improving communities. Students will also be expected to attend campus events that are related to civic education, community leadership and political affairs. (Formerly POLI 201)
