DANC 245 - Theory and Practice of Ballet, Spring

(2 credits)
This course gives students with an intermediate-level of training the opportunity to establish, develop and refine classical ballet technique. Emphasis is on correct placement, line and execution. An analytical approach to the relation between muscle control and technique is used to intensify the effectiveness of training. In addition, through out-of-class research students will obtain general background about ballet which, combined with intensive class work, is intended to create dancers technically proficient and artistically enriched. The class is a continuation of topics addressed in DANC 242 (formerly DANP 242) but is not dependent on being taken in sequence. May be repeated for a maximum of six credits. One hour of lecture and two hours of laboratory weekly. Offered spring semester. (Formerly DANP/PHED 245)
