Childhood Studies Program Learning Outcomes


The goals of the Childhood Studies Major are for students to:
 

1. Evaluate children’s identities at the intersection of social constructs such as race, class, sexuality, gender, culture, and ethnicity. 

2. Explore the role of social institutions in children’s lives.  

3. Apply diverse methods and sources for studying children and childhood.  

4. Critically analyze representations of children and childhood. 

5. Advocate for social justice in improving children’s lives. 

6. Challenge global and historical constructs of childhood.
