Learning Outcomes

By completing the M.A. in Physical Sciences, graduates will be prepared to lead successful careers as middle and high school teachers in Physics, Chemistry, Earth Science and Physical Science, consistent with Bridgewater State University’s Strategic Goals of providing service to the region through workforce development and its history in STEM education.  They will have improved content knowledge, strong pedagogical content knowledge, and an understanding of the role history and inclusive pedagogy can play in teaching science and promoting diversity in STEM fields at the middle and high school level. Graduates will 

1. Demonstrate advanced understanding of the content of their teaching discipline, 
2. Be able to describe and apply pedagogical content knowledge within their teaching discipline, 
3. Be able to create curricula consistent with national and state standards, and 
4. Be able to describe and apply lessons from the history and modern sociology of science to create inclusive lesson plans and curricula.
