Finance Major Learning Outcomes


Students who graduate with an undergraduate concentration in Finance will be able to achieve the following learning outcomes (LOs) for each program learning goal (PLG) in support of RCOB LG 7:

PLG 1: Finance Knowledge 

Demonstrate fluency in the language of finance in a variety of settings 

LO 1.1  Explain finance concepts and theories as they apply in business, investment, real estate and risk and insurance settings 

LO 1.2  Discuss regional, national and global financial markets, financial institutions and economic implications of financial decisions

PLG 2: Critical Thinking and Analytical Reasoning Skills 

Demonstrate problem-solving and critical-thinking skills in applying financial models, tools and technology in financial settings 

LO 2.1  Evaluate personal and commercial investment alternatives, basing recommendations on the analysis of risk and return measures 

LO 2.2  Apply financial tools and models in conducting financial analysis and make recommendations based on the analysis results 

LO 2.3  Construct ad hoc spreadsheets and other technology-based models to solve financial problems

PLG 3: Communication Skills 

Demonstrate proficiency in business communication and teamwork skills 

LO 3.1  Prepare clear and concise business communications conveying technical financial information 

LO 3.2  Demonstrate interpersonal and teamwork skills

PLG 4: Ethical Responsibility 

Demonstrate an understanding of ethical decision-making 

LO 4.1  Evaluate ethical considerations in decision-making for financial situations
