Dance Major Learning Outcomes

Goal 1:  Students will be able to perform dance movement.

• Learning Outcome 1.  Students will demonstrate proficiency in dance technique.
• Learning Outcome 2.  Students will demonstrate performance ability in dance.

Goal 2:  Students will create and stage a dance to express meaning.

• Learning Outcome 1.  Students will demonstrate a working knowledge of choreography.
• Learning Outcome 2.  Students will demonstrate a working knowledge of production techniques.

Goal 3:  Students will understand dance in its historical and cultural context.

• Learning Outcome 1.  Students will demonstrate an understanding and appreciation for the historical development of dance.
• Learning Outcome 2.  Students will demonstrate an understanding and appreciation for dance as a multicultural expression.

Goal 4:  Students will understand the meaning and appreciate the quality of dance performance.
