MATH 561 - Topics in Number Theory(3 credits)
Prerequisite: Admission to the MAT in Mathematics program; or consent of instructor
Designed for teachers of mathematics, this number theory course is the study of the integers and their properties. This course explores topics couch as divisibility, congruence, Diophantine equations, prime numbers, the Gaussian integers and other number systems, the fundamental theorem of arithmetic, RSA cryptography and quadratic reciprocity.
